What is the WWBC? The WWBC “Wild Waters Bream/Bass Championship” represents over 5 years of weekend competitive bream and bass fishing that was originally conceived when two brothers looked at a way of keeping there skill levels up by making their weekly fishing outing more challenging and fun. Both participated in ANSA, GFAA and IGFA tournaments on a regular basis and spent many weeks away competing in various invitational events in both fresh and saltwater around the country.
Since then several dozen anglers have shared in the challenge and experience from Australia and abroad and in 2003/2004 the inaugural series was run with a small field of 10 anglers. The level of competition and experience obtained by all involved has demonstrated that the event is a proven formula for future competitions and the basis for doing greater good for the others in our community.
How do we help others? Alongside the challenges of competition it is our goal to raise money for needy charities within our community. To accomplish this we need sponsors, donations and your help to raise money and the awareness of those in need.
Our chosen charity for the up coming season is Lifestart Cumberland Prospect – Early Childhood Intervention Program. Lifestart is an early childhood intervention program for children with intellectual disabilities or delays in development, or at risk of delay. It was established in 1996 as the vision of eight families to provide a community based program managed by families, for families. Lifestart is a parent co-operative providing a family-centred approach to the needs of children with disabilities and their families. It is based on the concept of partnerships between parents and professionals.
This is an invitational event that has targeted anglers of various skills and angling disciplines. It is hoped that in the future the number of participants may increase depending on costs and the general feel by this years members. The cost for the entire series will be $120 for the year, which will cover trophies, WWBC tackle bag and tournament shirt and hat. An additional cost of $6 per round will cover the costs of te post event BBQ and drinks. Non boaters will also be asked to make a contribution towards the boats fuel cost.
So welcome aboard, enjoy the ride and be proud that you are doing something for your fellow man
